Dear Raleigh, I <3 you.
The days are counting down and it’s finally starting to hit me that I will no longer call Raleigh home. It’s really grown on me. On top of the whole college experience (internships, travel, conferences, networking, and learning), the community has really started to shine. Thank you for introducing me to start-ups, meet-ups, and coffee culture, Raleigh. You’ve helped me grow these past 6 wonderful years and I can confidently say that I feel more in tune with my passions. I’m driven to begin the next chapter in my life.
So what the heck is the next chapter of my life? Next Monday I leave Raleigh for Chicago to begin the on-boarding program for new developers at ThoughtWorks. A week after that, I’m off to Bangalore, India, to continue training for 5 more weeks. Upon completion, I fly to San Francisco to begin full-time!
To be honest, my mind is a mess right now. I didn’t realize how hard it would be to pack for several destinations. My top priority has been to move everything I own OUT of my apartment and to my mom’s house. Trying to mentally decide what will stay, what I’ll take, and what I’ll eventually have shipped has been tough but also somewhat liberating. I’ve already told my brother he can have my car, furniture, laptop, TV, sound-system, and several other things I don’t want to bother shipping mostly due to the uncertainty of where I’ll live after I get back.
So despite the fact that I’m still not done moving out, packing, and studying for ThoughtWorks University, I’m going to try to take in as much as I can before I leave. It’ll be hard to say goodbye to all of my friends and family but hey, there’s no excuse for me to come back and visit (nor an excuse for them to visit me!).
After all, I’m going to need my Carolina ‘cue fix eventually.
Comparing graduation photos. Got my B.S. in Computer Science in 2011 and my M.S. a couple of weeks ago.
6 years of college education, complete!

musings of a ragamuffin: The #2Dto3D Challenge.
As many of you know, i started the #2Dto3D initiative a few weeks ago through a blogpost and Twitter postings. The goal of the #2Dto3D initiative is very simple, it’s meant to take as many of your 2D social media relationships into 3D, or “in real life.” This in turn builds stronger…
Meeting people was a nerve racking experience for me as being the one voted as “Most Quiet” in high school superlatives. I started doing this after the first time I grabbed coffee with Carrie. Haven’t looked back ever since. Go out there and meet new friends!
The final stop in @CarrieNyden’s tour de Durham. Got talked into riding the bull! (at Durham City Bull Statue)
